Now that is what I call Love!!

I am still wiping away tears as I type this, but I had to share with you....

Tonight, I was going over the mail while the kids were playing on the carpet, seemingly ignorant. I opened a explaination of benefits from my recent radiation treatments. I told Morgan "Wow, so far radiation costs are at 46,000.00. Luckily we have insurance!" I then explained how much it would cost after insurance, but the kids must not have heard that part. And ignorant, they were not. The girls seemed to pick up on the high cost and when I went to bed, this was on my pillow...
It is a handmade envelope, made with notebook paper and pipe cleaners (A Cassidy exclusive)
And here is the note that was inside.... the front says "I know that this is not a lot of money...
........."but I hope that this will help with breast cancer expenses!" (I spell checked it for you... it's the thought that counts! )
Cassidy included a "check" she wrote giving me 3.00 of her monthly allowance from the "book" (where we record all of the kids allowance/expensences/etc).
......................... A note so I would know who was behind this!
Cassidy made me my own "diamond necklace" out of plastic diamonds and none other than pipe cleaners! Isn't it beautiful!! She is soooo creative!!
...... and Sarah's contributions... A shiny rock!!! Shiny rocks cure all ailments!!! .........And here is Sarah's contribution! I tear up just thinking about it! I think it totals .85 cents!! Sarah, you have a heart of gold!!!

I have been blessed with the best family in the whole world!!! I wouldn't trade my life (cancer included) with anyone!! I love my life!!!! Thank you girls for reminding me about true love!

p.s. Since we have moved to the Valley, Sarah is really struggling with seeing homeless people on the street corners with signs for money. Everytime we pass one, if we are close enough, we give them whatever we can find.. a dollar here, some quarters there, a five dollar bill when I can find one. I enjoy helping the kids as they teach me why we are really here on earth.... to help others! Thanks for reminding me!

p.s.s. The other day I was alone with Will in the car. I gave some money to a man on the street corner and a few minutes later Will spoke up, "Mom, why did you give him money?" I told him that the man didn't have money and needed food. A few minutes went by, then I hear from the backseat..."I don't have money..... I need some food......."

It might take me a while to teach Will all about charity!!! he he he

Great Story.... you and Morgan remember this story -- I want to her it in General Conference severals years from now.

"The Gift without the giver is bare." great line of a great poem. and you and your family seem to know and live that very well.

Christa! I am so glad you record these amazing stories of your kids! In Maine there were many homeless people on the street each Sunday as we drove to church. I would pack extra granola bars or whatever snack I would bring for the boys and then give them those--it only amounts to a few cents so we would never go broke trying to help others but it would make them happy to see someone stop and that way they got to sample all kinds of new granola bars! Maybe an idea for your little charitable kiddos:)
