No School Today…
Our family, like many others across the United States, proudly celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. today. And how did we celebrate…with huge yummy waffles for breakfast and time with our family and being outside of course.
I want to show you the different styles of boys I have..
Exhibit #1
Will is pictured here as “Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2”.
Today Will celebrated every single moment by doing things every single moment. He rode his bike, he did basketball drills with mom and more drills, he played with his friends out front, he jumped, and even went down the hill in our backyard in a tupperware. He crashed pretty hard doing that and when his friend yelled down the hill, “Will, are you okay?” All you could see was a turned tupperware, whole lot of dust and an arm sticking straight up with a thumbs up sign. He He He!
Exhibit #2
But he didn’t get all those bandaids from sliding precariously down the hill. Nay, he waited until the late afternoon, using up the last of his energy. He “climbed really high” in the neighbor’s tree and fell……all……the…..way…………down!
Our close neighbor and friend was outside watching the kids play and he carried Will over like a precious sack of potatoes and put him on our “operation table” (the island in the kitchen) and we began to bandage. I say we, but Cassidy did most of the work. She played a great nurse and then we told him he needed to take a break from being himself and put on one of his favorite shows, “Mythbusters” and then he was A-okay.
His only comments about the adventure were, “I wish I had been lower when I fell” and “I was trying to enjoy every minute of the day and I even had a bit of fun falling!” He proclaimed the latter response as he soaked in mom and dad’s huge tub and we took off all the band-aide’s, underwater, of course!
Exhibit #3
Exhibit #4
Whereas, my 12-year-old son, Lund, bought himself a “Rubex cube” on Friday evening and practiced and studied until he can now completely finish a Rubex cube in 4min and 52seconds. He even checked out a book at the library and when I asked him about it, he simply replied, “Algorithms mom….It’s all about the algorithms.” I responded that his mother had no clue what he was talking about, but would cheer him on anyway.

Wonderboy vs. Manly Beard
Will decides to make a snowball, and his father looks on, smiling…
“Oh, how adorable it is that my young son thinks he can hit his father”
“But wait, I am aghast!!!! Did he hit me?!!!!!
“Ewwwwww, ewwwwweeeyyyy! I am afraid of snow!!!!! Even as manly as I am with my full manly beard!”
As we return to our hero, he knows he better run and fast!
Run Wonderboy!!! Will there be another Wonderboy episode if Manly Beard catches him?….. Stay tuned for more shinanigans and snow…

My early Christmas Present!
DISCLAIMERS:
1.message provided from my point of view.
2. I may have forgotten a few or lots of things.
I had a PET scan last week to show what had been changing since the last PET in March. Morgan and I had been getting really stressed out because we had just received 8 months of miracles. Since starting Affinitor last May, I was able to "be a mom" meaning I was able to finally keep up with my kids and their activities. (with naps during the day when they are away at school). The side effects have been mild enough that I can basically "have a life". We knew that this was a miracle and we were getting nervous that our "miraculous gift" was coming to a close. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way begrudging the miracles that were ever present in our family, Morgan and I were just getting worried that it would be selfish to ask the Lord for more. Also, we had just been at one of my friends' funerals the weekend before. Another wonderful fighter, who I had seen in the Mesa Temple a mere six months ago. At the time, she was doing great and we shared many smiles and laughs.
But such is the world of cancer, especially "stage 4" (advanced cancer). I love all my breast cancer fighting sisters, but sometimes there are too many invites to funerals and it gets hard. Maybe I should find a new group of friends! he he! Nah, then I would miss their strength and compassion.
So on Monday we entered MD Anderson with interpretation. My support team was my best friend who just happens to be my husband, and a mother from each side. Also entering the treatment center with us, were hundreds of prayers said on my behalf, various requests from multiple Temples, and a constant prayer that kept getting stuck in my ever tightening throat.
After waiting in the waiting room and then waiting in the procedure room, we were about to burst when a short, adorable, red head walked in the door and calmly reported upon entrance, "The results were wonderful, better than I had expected." Everything in the room came to a halt and we tried to quickly digest the powerful message that had been so casually delivered. Finally I shouted, "Dr C., you have to dance! We have talked about this. When you have news like this you have to dance upon entering the room." She instantly responded, "I don't dance." As the mothers hounded her for news I said quietly to myself, "Just a little shuffle would do. It would have looked like a little leprechaun was dancing in with wonderful news." hummmphhh
Conclusion:
1. In layman's terms, the scan reported that the tumors were shrinking and even disappearing. For instance, the huge tumor in my abdomen that kept me in the hospital for a week last year due to intense pain, was now gone, ....g..o...n...e..!!!!
2. Now we say our prayers of gratitude for a Savior that saw fit to keep me here on this mortal visage for a little bit longer. Please don't forget the reason that we have this season of peace and love!

Safford Trip
Can you tell where we went last week during Fall Break? Safford, Arizona.
Actually, it was a bit of a two-fer trip because Morgan had to be out visiting his mines there for a couple of days. Morgan's parents went with us and it was a great trip.
One of the highlights of the trip was Cassidy and Lund doing baptisms for the dead in the Gila Valley Temple AND they were also family names!! What a blessing, both for my own children, but also for those ancestors who have been patiently waiting on the other side of the veil.
Another highlight came as we picked buckets and buckets of "Blushing Golden" apples off of the trees in Angle's Orchard. What a memory! So far I have only attempted apple cupcakes, but I am always up for more apple recipes!
The third highlight of the trip was connecting with my friend Destiny Bollinger, who lives in Pima.(right next to Thatcher, where Morgan was born). I always LOVE catching up with my buddies from the years.
The last highlight was actually quite the surprise. Morgan was walking with the kids through a cotton field and ran into a gal from Mesa High School that he and I both knew. She had us hurry over to her house because there was a huge thing happening over there....Her baby chicks were hatching!
It was the real deal! They were slowly chipping away with their beaks to break out of their eggs. And we learned that you can't help them, because they have to go through this trial to be strong enough to live. (lots of life symbolism there)
And frankly, they look pretty gross when they do get out. But if you give them a couple of hours...
They look like this!!!!! Will really loved watching the whole process.
And we all know that Sarah was in heaven!!

Summer of Love Part 1
I thought the area that we stayed was sooooooo beautiful, so of course, I had to take lots, and lots of pictures.
I have to admit, I am very proud that I took this picture! After some editing, it will look awesome!
This was one of the beautiful homes that she built. The "Abique" house is so gorgeous.
This is where I stayed, the "Steelie" house. Also gorgeous! Thanks for sharing a bed with me Alicia!
But this is what it was really all about, connecting! This is Bonnie and Tiffany having a conversation together. Helping each other through the hard times of being a mother.
And this is where I showered, IN A BUCKET!! It was an awesome invention though. Pat is VERY creative and artistic and everything about her homes are unique and original. LOVE IT!
Beans again, she sure made a lot of friends that week.
And this is the studio where we had Yoga classes everyday taught by Juliet, who teaches Yoga in Portland, Oregon.
Here are the Haglund sister's, McKenzie and Alexis. They are such beautiful, humble sisters with the biggest hearts you will ever find. They both came from Las Vegas, Nevada.
And this beautiful piece of artwork called the "Labyrinth", is also a tool for meditation. You start on the outside and meditate as you make your way to the center.
One day we had a Salon in our house with Alicia giving wonderful haircuts and laughs galore. Aunt Pat found all the jewelry I had brought and they had a great time "dressing up"! What a hoot!
Here is our beautiful hostess, Aunt Pat, smiling and enjoying sharing her love with us. Thanks again and again Aunt Pat!
